This was not a typical video conference and not university! We set this camp up to be a lot of fun, with a diverse range of methods, with movement and without formalities. During this project, we created an atmosphere of peace, belonging and safety within our very international group.

Some of the core topics of the project we wanted to cover:

  • antimilitarism
  • nuclear weapons
  • non-violence
  • disarmament
  • weapon industries
  • military conscription

In this online camp, participants have learned how to write Wikipedia articles and got to know more about inspiring activists and organisations fighting for peace and non-violence – and against war and militarism.

This camp was part of the initiative Wikipedia for Peace that Service Civil International (SCI) and Wikimedia run since 2015 in order to improve the content on peace on Wikipedia and in order to new target groups (young people, activists, women*, queer people) to editing Wikipedia. It is a collaboration between SCI Switzerland and Wikimedia Switzerland.

The 14 participant have uploaded 44 articles. There are still a lot of ideas left to contribute!

Have look on further details and the results on the project page.
