Pool of Trainers

As a grassroots movement, the Wiki community has always strived to share its knowledge, skills and expertise in using MediaWiki-tools with others to spread free knowledge commons throughout the world. Wikimedia CH has been working in recent years to build a pool of Wiki-Trainers, which covers all the national languages of Switzerland (D/F/I/E) on a supra-regional and supra-national basis.

The WMCH Education Team organises and manages the Wiki-trainings, workshops and courses in consultation with our stakeholders, tailored to their needs (e.g. for archivists, librarians, memory institutions such as museums, as well as courses in schools and universities, and many more).

All our trainings, workshops and courses are based on lesson plans geared towards Lehrplan 21 and are brought to life through specific online learning tools. These share basic knowledge about Wikipedia and the vision of the Wiki Movement, while introducing specific MediaWiki-tools such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata (and many more) to help learners acquire the skills and competencies required for use and contribution.

Based on the many years of experience of our Wiki-trainers, the following approaches have proven effective in the planning and delivery of Wiki-training sessions, workshops and courses (official framework conditions):

Wikimedia CH Friendly Space Policy
Wiki-trainings, workshops and courses are usually delivered in-person to facilitate personal skills and expertise
Minimum of 5 participants to be able to learn and work in groups
Wiki-trainer fees: CHF 400.00 per half day / CHF 800.00 full day (including needs analysis, preparation, Wiki-training, and follow-up)
