End of November 2024, the “GLAM-on-Tour” at Château Chillon was a collaboration between “Les Sans PagEs” and the Wikimedia-GLAM team, made possible by the generous hosting of Château Chillon. The proposed focus on “witches” in the canton of Vaud attracted a large number of eager collaborators who contributed to the French and German wikis.
Natacha, LSP, opened the weekend of the 15th- 17th of November with a compelling presentation on the persecution of witches in the canton of Vaud, also sharing her experience of facilitating the “Wikiwitch” project.
The next morning, Gwendolin Ortega delved deeper into the historical past with her presentation entitled “Répression de la sorcellerie en Pays de Vaud (XVe-XVIIe siècles)”. Her talk was followed by a guided tour of the Château Chillon – many thanks to Lena for taking the group on a fascinating journey!
Contributions to the wikis began when participants met on Saturday afternoon to coordinate their work, with professional guidance and support from Natacha LSP. Over the next 24 hours, they worked on updating the history of witch trials in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, particularly in the canton of Vaud, where approximately 2’000 witches were killed. The aim was to generate further interest in other regions to potentially replicate this format and deepen research and access to documents on witch trials in Switzerland.
