From 29 to 31 August 2025, the Innovation and GLAM programmes of Wikimedia CH hosted a three-day event in Bern, organised in collaboration with the Swiss National Library, the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), and with the support of Science et Cité and DHWiki. The event also featured the active participation of the Wikidata development team.

The programme combined a Wikidata Day with a two-day WikiCite community gathering, bringing together librarians, researchers, developers, and Wikimedia contributors to explore the evolving role of Wikidata in managing bibliographic and authority data.

The first day was conceived as a practical introduction to Wikidata for Swiss libraries and researchers, with presentations from several European national libraries from Germany, Greece, Cekia and Italy.

The second and third days focused on dialogue between the Wikidata community and institutional stakeholders, highlighting how Wikidata can better support research, education, and knowledge infrastructure in future. The Wikidata development team also presented elements of their future roadmap, inviting feedback and collaboration.

A white paper is currently in preparation, summarising key insights and outlining priorities for future collaboration between Wikidata, libraries, and the open knowledge ecosystem and video recordings will be available soon.
