Let's celebrate 25 years of Wikipedia and 20 years of Wikimedia CH
Wikipedia Day 2026 took place on Saturday, 30 May. We celebrated 25 years of Wikipedia and 20 years of Wikimedia CH. It was a day full of inspiration, insight, reflection and celebration. Participants enjoyed networking and engaging discussions in the vibrant setting of Schwellenmätteli in Bern.

15:30 – Welcome of General Assembly participants and coffee & cake get-together
16:00 – 17:15 – General Assembly
17:30 – 19:00 – Review of the history of Wikimedia CH, status quo and outlook for the coming years
19:30 – Start of the dinner buffet
20:00 – 23:30 – Wiki-Jam with Ivonne Gonzalez and band followed by a DJ set. You want to join the Jam? Info and coordination on the project page under “Wikipedia Day 2026”.
23:30 – End of the event
Good to know
- The Wikimedia CH General Assembly and Wikipedia Day 2026 were open and free to everyone. Registration was mandatory and required by 20th May at the latest.
- In the General Assembly, only active members have voting rights. For more information on all members’ rights and obligations, please refer to our Bylaws, §4. An official invitation was sent to all members. Interested in becoming a member? Here is more information
- Members attending the General Assembly had access to all relevant documents on this platform; only available to Wikimedia CH members.
- For registered participants, free food and drinks were provided.
- The event was bphotographed. Red lanyards were provided for anyone who does not wish to be photographed.
- This event was covered by the Friendly Space Policy (FSP) of Wikimedia CH, to ensure a safe and pleasant environment, and to restore such an environment as quickly as possible after incidents.

Throwback to Wikipedia Day 2025
Do you remember Wikipedia Day 2025? On 10 May, we gathered at Welle 7 in Bern under the theme ‘Shape the Future of Free Knowledge with Wikimedia CH’. This was the kick-off event for the Wikimedia CH strategy process: an interactive co-creation day that set the scene for future developments. Participants enjoyed a day full of inspiration, dynamic workshops, networking, and engaging discussions.
