About us

At a time when fake news, click-bait and “infotainment” are the norm, finding objective, factual information online is increasingly difficult. When anyone can publish anything on the internet, ‘quality knowledge’ often gets lost in the mass of information. A simple Google search for “democracy,” for example, yields nearly 300 million results – many of which are inaccurate, incomplete or biased. At Wikimedia – the non-profit organization behind free knowledge projects like Wikipedia – we believe that information should be:

• free and accessible,

• collaborative,

• accurate, and

• objective.

Simply put, we want a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.
