A lack of transparency in algorithms and the concentration of market- and opinion-forming power in online platforms are a threat to our democracy. In an open letter, we call on the Federal Council to present a clear roadmap for the once again delayed platform regulation.

On 16 April 2025, the Federal Council decided to further delay the draft law announced over a year ago to regulate social media and search engines such as Instagram, X and Google.

In an open letter initiated by AlgorithmWatch CH together with CH++, Digitale Gesellschaft and OpenData.ch, important figures from politics, civil society, science and economy are calling on the Federal Council to commit to protecting our fundamental rights, to a constructive debate and to our democracy – and to present a clear roadmap for platform regulation. Wikimedia CH has also signed this letter.
