Imagine you want to find out the land mass of Switzerland. You type your query in an online search engine and a page opens with your results.

What comes up, front and center, is the answer: 41,285 km². This number has been researched and reviewed by neutral editors, none of whom are trying to sell you something. If you click on the link, you won’t see any ads. You know that the information on that website isn’t owned by the government or a big corporation— it’s a collective resource that belongs to all of us.

That website is Wikipedia, Switzerland’s 5th most visited website and the internet’s leading source of factual, neutral, accessible information. It’s one of our biggest projects here at Wikimedia CH, used by millions of people every day, for free.

But that doesn’t mean it’s free to maintain.

To remain a neutral, independent source of information, we do not advertise on our sites or accept government funding. As a non-profit, we rely solely on financial contributions from individuals— people like you — who use and benefit from Wikipedia and who share our vision of free knowledge for everyone.

Which is why we’d like to ask for your help. We don’t need much, just a few francs from everyone who reads this, including you, would help enormously.

With your financial support, we can continue our work to spread free knowledge in Switzerland and beyond. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support Wikimedia CH by clicking here :

Thank you in advance — without your generosity, Wikimedia CH couldn’t exist!
