Join us in welcoming Maurus Achermann and Amandine Cabrio in the Wikimedia CH staff. By 1 October 2022, Maurus started his job as our new Community Lead for Switzerland (80%). He coordinates the collaboration with and of our Community Managers. On the same day, Amandine became our new GLAM expert (80 %). In this position, she will support Sandra Becker in the GLAM program.

Maurus Achermann

Maurus comes from the canton of Lucerne and lives in Bern. He studied in Fribourg and has a bilingual Master’s degree in social sciences with a focus on politics. During his studies, he dealt in depth with human rights and climate issues as well as UN mechanisms.

Early on and to this day, Maurus has been involved in various volunteer structures. During his recent long-term position at Service Civil International (SCI), he was able to gain a lot of experience in project work, in coordinating and accompanying volunteers as well as in management of non profit organisations.

The position of Community Lead has been newly created to complement the experienced community managers in the different language regions of Switzerland. Maurus says: “I am looking forward to the challenge of strategically developing the community sector and making a contribution to freedom of opinion and independent information.”

 

Amandine Cabrio

Amandine holds a Master degree in Museum Studies (University of Neuchâtel), and a postgraduate degree in Archives, Libraries and Information Sciences (Universities of Bern and Lausanne). Since 2018, she has been working on a PhD in the framework of the FNS project “The Neuchâtel Cantonal Observatory (1858-1948): precision cultures, quality certification and time selling”. Wikipedian since 2014, she has been coordinating the Wiki Neocomensia project since 2017. “I look forward to helping make Switzerland’s heritage accessible”, she sais.
